Welcome to Our School!

Welcome

We are so very honoured and excited to be part of this unique opportunity of bringing two KPR schools together into a bright, spectacular new building, and in such an incredible location!  We are fortunate that Kaawaate East City Public School is situated on the territory of the Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg.  As peoples of the Williams Treaty, we are grateful for the site of our school, and recognize that our new learning environment has creatively been built into the side of a hill resulting in three unique levels - earth, tree and sky.  Our students will benefit from the learning that comes from all of this, as well as from where the school is situated; adjacent to the forest with a breath-taking view from the hill and located near the Trent-Severn Waterway which connects beautifully to the Kaawaate portion of our name meaning “Shining Waters”. In addition, our students will also be learning from an innovative and dedicated team of educators. Collectively, our staff will build inclusive relationships with many opportunities for everyone to demonstrate academic and personal growth, and ensuring we are meeting the needs of all students. At KECPS, we are the “Navigators”, and each individual is learning to navigate our own educational journey - we are very much looking forward to supporting our students as we begin this phenomenal adventure!

Take great care,

Marguerite Masterson and Melissa Casselman
